有舍才有得

I have enrolled in 4 modules this semester, and regularly attend an additional lecture every Wednesday. Furthermore, I get a part-time job as a tutor of a little boy. And sometimes I have to participate in some activities in the campus. So I become extremely busy these days.

It seems all the courses I am taking this term are more difficult than the last term. A lot of mathematics and domain knowledge are needed for these courses.

I am exciting about learning something new. I have learned little about finance before. The terms of finance in English are quite different from daily-life english. I begin to know future, option, and swap etc. in Financial Computing. It makes me feel I am getting closer to this international finance center. And multimedia technologies, which is said to be an art of deceiving eyes and ears, is also very interesting.

But the mathematics behind these courses can cost a lot of energy.

My student is a little primary school boy . I met him and his family on the tram coincidently. His mother was looking for a tutor for him then. The boy is very lovely, so I became his tutor by accident. The job is quite easy. I feel more like a babysitter than a tutor. I watch him do his homework and then teach him some English. The education in HK is quite different from mainland. The boy has to do many exercises online. There are many databases that cover all subjects. Colorful animations and games are available. The school allocates every student an account and password and keep a record for them. They learn how to use computer and many political or daily news from the very beginning. The english textbook is different from mainland too. Nearly every word can be seen in daily life. Sometimes I even meet words on his textbook that I never learnt before, such as chilli fish, yoghurt, etc. I am ashamed about it.:(

I have been away from the badminton team for a long time. I am looking forward to play badminton. It is very probably that I won't be able to make it until two weeks later. Anyway, I should be satisfied that I saw two friends from badminton team yesterday and had a wonderful time with them.
